REGGAE HISTORY

ARTISTS SPOTLIGHT

LEGENDS AND FUTURE LEGENDS

BOB MARLEY - Bob Marley was a hero figure, in the classic mythological sense. His
departure from this planet came at a point when his vision of One World, One Love -- inspired by
his belief in Rastafari -- was beginning to be heard and felt. The last Bob Marley and the Wailers
tour in 1980 attracted the largest audiences at that time for any musical act in Europe.

                     MORGAN HERITAGE -
Described as one of music’s most influential reggae acts
around today, They are more than just a legendary reggae band. They are a  revolution, a family,
a force of nature and a crew of five independent artists on a musical mission. Morgan Heritage
comprise of vocalist/keyboardist, Una Morgan, vocalist, Peter Morgan and keyboardist/vocalist,
Roy "Gramps" Morgan, rythym guitarist "Lukes" Morgan and percussionist, "Mr. Mojo" Morgan.
When they are not touring the world, the band currently divideds its time between Brooklyn,

                  DEMARCO -
With a deep-seated passion that engulfs his persona, this young man
stands out from the rest. With an intense love and enthusiasm for every aspect of the music
business – from producing to songwriting to deejaying to engineering – Demarco has his fingers
on the pulse of almost every genre of the infectious rhythms of the world. Whether it’s reggae,
dancehall, hip-hop, R&B, Demarco has written and produced for the best of them. Top names like
Olivia, Styles P and Sean Paul have experienced his producing skills, while Bounty Killer and
others have put vocals to his lyrics…and in between all that Demarco still finds time to do
combinations with other artistes and record his own songs! Born in Portmore, St. Catherine in
1982, Demarco is a protégé of Ardenne High School. Growing up, he used to ‘play around’ on a
sound he and his friends created called Future Disco.

             BERES HAMMOND -
Don't be deceived by Beres Hammond's cool profile. The playful
smile, the unassuming demeanor, the beard, the cap and the spectacles might lull you into
forgetting that you're in the presence of an awesome musical talent, Jamaica's greatest
practicing singer/songwriter. Beres remains cool, though he knows that he's one of a handful of
people responsible for maintaining a mighty legacy of soulful reggae music – a select group of
Artistes like Toots and Gregory, like Dennis and Bob. "Father bless me with a song," he pleads
on the last cut of his album, 'Music Is Life,' "to make the whole world sing along. Regardless of
the race, regardless of the taste." In the year 2001  the blessings just keep coming, the world
keeps coming, and is just starting to catch on.

LUCKY DUBE -  has been hailed as 'The shining star of African reggae (afropop.com)
and 'South Africa's biggest selling contemporary artist' (Mail & Guardian). However, he isn't
merely this, he's a modern day hero with a message that has touched millions of people's hearts
around the world. With an incredible 21 albums under his musical belt, he has proved himself
one of not only South Africa's, but also the world's greatest reggae superstars. A man with
superb musical taste and genuis, an artist with a message, with a reason and a rhyme behind
everything he does.

As one can judge by listening to his music, he has a message on every album. His songs are
based on three main things - political issues, social issues and personal issues - things that play
an important role in everyone's lives. When asked what inspires him (Lucky), he humbly notes -
'People! Looking at people, watching people's movements, the things they do. My songs are
based on real life situations and experiences.'

From the release of his first reggae album in 1984, to his present superstar status today, Lucky
has maintained the humble nature that brings him closer to the people that so inspire his music.
He has toured the world more times over than anyone could dream of and shared stages with
names such as Maxi Priest, Sinead O-Connor, Peter Gabriel, Michael Jackson, Seal, Ziggy Marley,
Celine Dion, Sting and many, many others. He has raked in over 20 local and international awards
for his music and videos, yet as a person he is unaffected by his success. Still living in the
country that gave him birth, he records with his original sound engineer and belongs to the
same record comany. A true gentleman, Lucky's down-to-earth nature is one of his finest
qualities.

His music is riddled with the desire to make the world a better place.
